AT THE SUMMER CABIN exhibition delves into the meanings of summer cabin life and the intergenerational themes of summer cabin photography by combining art, documentary, press photography and film. The exhibition features works by photographers such as Martti Jämsä, Matleena Jänis, Jari Silomäki, Paavo Jänis, Jukka Gröndahl, Pertti Ahva, and Hugo Simberg. The exhibition is curated by Matleena Jänis.
A summer cabin is the most beloved place in the world. It is where memories and traditions flow from generation to generation. It is a place where people feel a special connection with the surrounding nature, where they seek spiritual and physical well-being. The exhibition explores the essence of summer cabin life, the continuity of generations, the relationship with nature and memory. By looking at the cabin life, we can critically reflect on our current consumptive lifestyle and seek answers to how we can increase our mental well-being and improve the state of our planet.

The two-day course introduces plant-based developments and ecological darkroom work. On the first day, the theoretical part will discuss the relationship of humans to nature in creative work and art, and introduce different experimental photographic methods. On the second day, you will learn how to use plants in analogue film processing and how to make your own developments using plants, vitamin C and soda.
The course is suitable for photographers of different levels. The basics of darkroom work are good to know, but not essential. The course will include a joint film developing demo to illustrate the use of plant-based frameworks. You do not need to bring your own films to the course. The course will be led by photographer Joonas Ahtikallio.

The soundscapes created by sound artist Heikki Lindgrenare based on underwater sounds recorded with hydrophones, geophones and contact microphones, diving into the depths of an invisible and inaudible reality. The concert opens the door to a sub-surface soundscape hidden from human ears.
Kuopio-based composer-sound artist Jaakko Metsäpelto's work is inspired by the movement of water bodies. Intensive textures and a mystical atmosphere created from field recordings are key elements of the music, which can be described as electro-acoustic ambient.
